New Year, New Goals.

Hey Veggies! Hope all is well with you. It's been a long year. How dare I not write!? Shame on me. :)

So, I've accomplished a bit this past year. The Overnight in New York City was a great success & I am so happy I was able to participate. I spent a week in NYC & enjoyed my time there. In fact, I didn't want to leave. I'd very much love to live there. While heading back to my hotel a couple nights before the 18-mile walk, I ran across a street and I hit a pothole, which lead to a painfully sprained ankle. But, that didn't deter me from walking the entire way! Unfortunately, I walked with a limp for about a week following.

That was the most major event that has happened in the past year... Apart from hitting my 30th birthday a few weeks ago! Happy birthday to me!

This year, I am participating in The Overnight again. On June 9th-10th, I'm walking approximately 18 miles again through San Francisco. I'm excited that it is happening in my hometown. The only thing is that I've raised only $415 of my $1000. YIKES!!!! I need to raise $585 by June 9th! I do appreciate all of the donations I have received so far. And, I appreciate anything I will receive.

Let me give you a little rundown of what The Overnight is. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is an organization that is dedicated to understanding & preventing suicide through funding education, scientific research, public policy & legislation, and supporting mental health professionals. Many people don't realize or acknowledge how common mental illness is. There is a stigma linked to mental illness, which is (in my opinion) defeatist. By placing a stigma on someone's experience in life does not help them heal. By opening up lines of communication, we can cultivate education & awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. Many of us have been touched by mental illness, and I believe that we owe it to ourselves and those around us to support all aspects of health, including mental/emotional health.

Please visit AFSP's site, as well as my donation page to learn more about the foundation, Overnight Walk event, and make a donation. Even $5 is welcome! And, any donation you make is tax deductible. You will be provided with a confirmation receipt for your records, in case you need it when tax season rolls around.

Thank you for reading! I will be back on the regular to talk about my veg*n life and my overall quest for health!

Love and peace!!!
